The Korean War Project is a subproject of the Military and War Project. If you are interested in joining, please post below. Check out the project page. We would like to know what types of space pages and subprojects you would like to see for this project.

I have noticed this come up before. It is obviously of interest on WikiTree! Thanks for the documentary!!  Maybe we should make a subproject about this.
Genealogy studies should be more than names and dates. Just my opinion. I  was helping a member source a German ancestor and now I had to download The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich and Goebbels's Diaries to read this weekend. Lol !
I agree! I like to be able to see the person and know about their life. We have an extensive WWII project up and it was difficult working on some of those areas. Let me know how you like it!!

Do you have this in your military resources?

I don't believe we do. Thanks!!!

Memoirs of the Korean War if any of the guys have profiles here

My dad was in the Korean war, and I have a hard time finding any records pertaining to this war outside of casualty lists. He also participated in the occupation of South Korea that preceded the outbreak of hostilities.
My father was called up from the reserves to be navigator on a B-36 stationed up near Spokane, WA, during Korea, part of the SAC group waiting for orders to drop bombs on Moscow. He pretty much self-destructed during and after. I haven't figured out how to address the issue in his profile. It would be interesting to find out what happened to other members of those crews.

Eddie: Good luck on reading the Rise & Fall in a weekend! I read it when I was in college - kept up enough interest in the field to know there have been a lot of historical debates over the issues since then, and considerable additional information unearthed.  You might want to try finding indices to some of the major historical association journals, such as the American Historical Review.  Goebbels?  Take your hip boots!

Very interested in joining! My Daddy served in Korea as a radioman in the Army. He had a nasty scar from some type of surgery related to carrying that heavy radio all the time.

Yes! Two of my best friends were there, both Marines. One was a 17 year old who lied about his age to get in the Marines and was in the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge (Battle of Wendengli).

Hi and good afternoon,

My name is Paula Ann Hawkins Reinke, my Dad, Paul Hawkins Jr. was an Oiler for the aircraft during the Korean War and would very much like to join this project.  Interested in all I can know about this war to have some great conversations with my son, and my Dad.  To make us all come together and get a better feel as to what happened during that time.

My father was a soldier in the KMAG (Korean Military Advisory Group). He died in 1969 (I was 11 yrs) due to health decline. He suffered from PTSD. I feel Korean war veterans were never recognized as participating in a "real" war. We have a lot of recognition for rev war, world war and civil war veterans, but not  much for Korean vets. I have very few records of my father as my house burned down in 1978 but would still like to join the project.
