Why would someone try to merge me with someone born in 1840?

I'm very confused.  Today when I read my profile, I discovered that someone tried to merge me (Combs-1839) with Julia V (Eddy) Coville (Eddy-962), born in 1840!  None of the information on these two profiles are even a remote match...different parents (obviously), different spouse, no comparison whatsoever.  In fact, I ran the relationship tool and we are actually 7th cousins 3x removed.  How can I find out how this happened?

Maybe someone doesn't agree with you about something and is setting the stage for saying you are too old to be able to think clearly.

Seriously, if you click the Changes tab on your profile, you should be able to see who proposed the merge.

EDITED TO ADD:

I should have looked before writing the above.  Nobody tried to merge you with the other profile - they set it as a rejected match.  That's probably a good thing - when there are similarities of name for 2 different people, setting a rejected match helps prevent anyone from making the error of thinking they should be merged in the future.

It's not someone tried to merge your profile.

What you are seeing is a rejected match added on April 6 2016.

The list of rejected matches shows it was added by you:

1.  V Combs (Eddy-1839) and  Julia Coville (Eddy-962)    compare
   Initiated by V Combs. See changes. 
         If Eddy-1839 and Eddy-962 are the same person, merge them or create an unmerged match.
