Why does someone else's Name show up when I try to match my sister's Name with my Daughters?

When I put Peterson-3777 in my search for a Connection to Tyrrell-371 I get a Helen Grace Peterson instead of Mary (Prince) Peterson. Can someone Please explain why? What am I doing wrong?

The ID for Mary (Prince) Peterson  is Prince-3777 not Peterson

I'm a bit confused though. My Daughter had her DNA tested through Ancestry as did my Sister Mary. Ancestry says my Sister is my Daughter's Cousin instead of her Aunt so I wanted to make sure the relationship showed correctly here. Ancestry's connection makes no sense.

Have no DNA smarts or theory as to why that would be. There are some DNA exerts that might know why.  If no one chimes in here, try posting a new question, tagging it DNA

Ancestry only puts very broad or approximate relationship labels on DNA matches. (Based on strength of DNA relationship alone with no other info, usually several relationships are possible.)

A niece and aunt share anywhere from 1201 to 2282 cM of DNA. Two 1st cousins share 396 to 1397 cM. So some results (just by chance) will not be able differentiate what the relationship is.

Hi Matthew. I neglected to mention my Sister and I both have extensive Family Trees on Ancestry as do several Cousins of varying degrees. That being said, there is a wealth of Genealogical information available on their site.
