Need help - a Guest Member since Mar 2013 with Yellow privacy keeps haunting me.

Brashear-171 is a Guest member who has 0 contributions for 4 years.  I assume we are related.  My "Find Ancestor Matches" wants me to compare him to Brasseur-2 and perhaps merge them.  I know that they are not the same person.  Should I merge them??  Would this absorb the present-day Benjamin into the system so he is not sitting there as a Guest forever?

Note: As I posted this I was told in red print that Brashear-171 does not exist.  Why then am I still seeing his name?

a big fat NO from me. Merging for merging's sake is a VERY bad idea. We are here to make an accurate family tree, not follow the whims of matchbot :)

Gillian - the profile of Brashear-171 is totally empty, no parents, no dates, no places, no contributions, nothing except his name and guest sign-in four years ago. Thank you for your advice.  I will not merge.  I will learn to ignore matchbot, lol.
Ah well if you have an empty profile with no data or connected relations to merge away, then that's a bit different. I thought from the way you worded it that they had different data/relationships.
Gillian - I am having a difficult time explaining this so I am going to let it go until I can concentrate more.  Thank you for taking the time to assist.

If your not sure about them being accurate for a match I wouldn't accept the merge I would however put a note on the profile to state such facts we however do not want 2 separate identities to become conflated.

I say merge them. There is no data- only a name. It is conceivable it could be spelled like that at some time. It will likely remain as is forever - no benefit to anyone.  Just put in a research note: It has been suggested the LNAB is  spelled Brashear, with no sources provided.

Susan, thank you for your reply.  I will look at it again when I have no interruptions and see if I can better understand it.
