How do profiles with a Yellow Privacy Lock get merged after 30 day wait period?

Example:  One profile has the Open lock and one profile has the Yellow lock.

Note (FYI):  Adopting the Open lock profile does not solve the problem. Clicking on merge after adopting the Open lock profile does not solve the problem, but updates the "Last updated date time" on the "Pending Merges Initiated by Me" list.

You have to contact info@ wikitree.com, as they are the only people who can complete a merge when at least one of the profiles has a yellow lock.

Or the person merging has to be on the Trusted List (and sometimes as co-manager) of both profiles.
I was assuming that there had been no response from anybody - and that was why it had gone to default after 30 days, as suggested by the OP.

Thanks Ros.  That is what I have.  One profile with a yellow lock and the other profile with an open lock.  There is NO PRIVACY for the yellow lock profile once you initiate a merge on it with another open lock profile.

So does this mean that the open Profile data becomes private data if the merge is completed between a yellow lock profile and an open lock profile?

I have two merges.  One is an open lock profile that needs merging into the yellow lock profile. The other merge is vice versa.

You become a PM of the final merged-profile, so you can choose the privacy level.  (Only a PM can do this.)
What if the Open Lock Profile has no profile manager?
Adopt it - not that that will help you much, because info@ will still have to complete the merge.  Let them adopt it, if you want.
Thanks Ros.  I can see now that there is an advantage to adopting an OPEN lock profile BEFORE initiating the merge process with an other non-OPEN profile.
Doesn't really matter if you adopt it before or after proposing.  Info@ will still have to complete the merge if you've had no response after the 30 days.
Hi, Tommy --

The resulting privacy level will be set according to the profiles connected to the merged profile -- if there are living family members connected, the privacy will be set to Yellow; if there are no living family members connected, the privacy will be set to Open.

I'll be happy to take a look at the profiles you need to have merged. Just post the link to one of them here. :-)
Julie - how is that so?
My Mother's profile is set to green level privacy, but just now I reset it to totally open (and then set it back to green).  She has living family members attached, so by what you are saying her level should only be able to be yellow.  Yet she has been green since I created her profile.
Melanie --

I'm only talking about what privacy level is chosen by the system when a merge is done between two profiles where one is open and the other is private.

You can reset the privacy level to Open afterward. It's not forced to stay that way.

Ahh, ok.  That does explain it!  Thanks.  smiley

Julie,

Paul B. has already merged (earlier today) the two instances that I had pending that exceeded the 30 days.
