Are my sources from Ancestry adequate

I have been uploading GED files from Ancestry.   It does list the sources often, but it doesn't allow you to open them. But for example, it will list American Census 1940, etc... Indiana marriage records.  So it's stating where to find them.   Now I am learning Familyfind, but it's driving me nuts, as it's not allowing me to decipher who my great grand parents are, when someone else has it wrong.   Errr..... so the sources from family find are not popping up because someone else has "stolen" my grandma!  LOL

If I use Family Find, does it automatically upload to Wikitree? If it gives me the source and I add it, does it update.   If I have to cut and paste each, I am going to quit!   I have over decades of info in my ancestry files, and I have found myself deleting my hints the date in the 1600's and back!  Yikes, am I nuts???

For my family tree I have found Ancestor full of mistakes. I sent emails to various contributors, pointing out the glaring obvious mistakes, but none of them replied.

Hi.

I'm not sure what you mean by Family Find, so someone else will have to help with that part of your question.

It sounds as though you're stuck in the earliest phase of the learning curve that all of us have gone through.  Part of the problem is learning how to edit a profile, so you may want to work your way through some of the resources available under "Help" at the top of the screen next to Find.  For example, when you're editing a profile, it might help to take a look at how to do it here:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

It's also really helpful to look at other profiles that have been edited.  There are some examples of good profiles here:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Examples

If you can't go directly to those links, just look under Help, Sources, or Help, Examples.

Also, you can get a mentor, someone who can guide you step through step through the process of adding sources (which unfortunately I can't do at the moment).  You are not alone.  Everyone will help you.  Just ask.

LOL, Family Search.
When using FamilySearch, don't use the Find Family side which is the FamilySearch equivalent of WikiTree. Instead use Search which searches the collections.

Using Find Family you are are using the FamilySearch equivalent of WikiTree.

I looked at one of the profiles you recently imported, and it shows good sources -- census records, state death records, etc.  That's fine, you don't have to replace those with active links to the same records on familysearch (if that's what you're asking).

THANKS!
My only concern with using sources from Ancestry is that not everyone has an account with Ancestry and therefore would not be able to access the source if they needed or wanted to look.

This is why i always use Family Search sources. Anyone can access those.
