The One Name Study Project and Collaborative Profile of the Week present

E. Claiborne Robbins (1910-1995)

E. Claiborne Robins (1910-1995) was a philanthropist. He also built and lost one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the United States. Don’t confuse him with his son E. Claiborne Robins Jr.

How can you help Robbins’ profile be great? A man’s life is made of smaller parts: birth, death, education etc. Pick some aspect of Robbins’ life. Post an answer here first with your intentions. This prevents duplication of effort and keeps the question fresh. Then add the information to his profile, with a source. Just put the source inside <ref>source</ref> at the end of what you add to the profile. Following are some questions you might answer.

  1. Who were his parents? Profiles can be created.
  2. Can he be connected to the Global Tree?
  3. Was his first name really E.?
  4. Who was his wife? A profile can be created.
  5. Who were his children? Assuming they are still alive, just mention them in the biography.
  6. What kind of education did he have?
  7. What were the origins of A.H. Robins?
  8. What did he do for the Robins company?
  9. What happened that destroyed a thriving business?
  10. List some of his philanthropic endeavors.
  11. If you find great sources along the way list them at the bottom.

ONE NAME STUDY PROJECT

One Name Studies are a great tool to use in an effort to link different lines with the same surname. Researchers can pool their resources in an effort to establish one family connection (common ancestor).

Research may be limited to one family group where alternative spellings are a problem, they may be researching a specific line of ancestors or collecting all references to a name and its variants to prove connections and theories about relationships.

Traditional research, as well as DNA research techniques may be employed in order to prove relationships. Project members may act as the project coordinator for their surname study and actively market their study to the membership in an effort to encourage collaboration.

Hit a brick wall?.......Try a One Name Study!

Thank you.

I've added information on the Robins Foundation

There's still a section on his career and the AH Robins co. that need to be developed. Sources are on the profile.
