Is the city "Emmerns, Germany" actually "Emmen, Germany" as it relates to Jorge and Ana/Anna Crist?

I'm looking for the city in Germany known in the date book (Tagebuch?) of Nicholaus Heinrich Crist 1716-1783. I cannot find it on any maps of Germany, but there is a town named Emmen, Germany. I believe it was miscopied from or misspelled in the original "date book" of Nicholaus Heinrich Crist. He is my 4x great grandfather. If you do know, how would I go about finding out? I will be in Germany in December and may try, if there is time, to go to Emmen to do a little research. I would like know more about him and Ana/Anna.
