Father's father also Clarence Sawyer. His father was Joshua Sawyer, Brooklyn, NY. We originally lived in Mystic or Noank, CT. His wife was Ella Smith, from England. Joshua's father may have also been named Joshua, descended from Moses Sawyer or one of his sons. They lived both on Shelter Island, Southhold, LI and Mystic and Noank, Ct.
