Amelia F Hooper married John A Barton 1860 Kennington London

John Arthur Barton christening 6th july 1836 at St. Mark Church Kennington London ( surrey)            sister Frances Amelia Barton Born 29th March 1838 christening 16th May 1838 at St.Mark Kennington 

Father John Arthur Barton ,Mother Amelia Barton ,birth dates unknown.

I have found two marriage 's  for John Arthur Barton to Amelia Fanny Hooper both june 1860 one in Kennington London and the other at St.James Paddington London I can't find any records of them having children. I'm trying to find out if they are the grandparents of my grandfather John Alfred Barton b 1882-1883 Camberwell,( Kennington is very  close to Camberwell ) His father was John Arthur Barton b. unknown.Can anyone HELP !  PLEASE

In 1851, John A Burton & wife, Amelia were living at 18 Newton Road, Paddington:

This may well be son, John A Barton in 1861, living in Paddington:

John A Barton    25 (Born London -- cashier in banking ???)
Amelia F Barton    26 ( Born Warwickshire)

The family were living in Worcestershire in 1871.

A rather bizarre entry in 1881, has Edith Mary as grand daughter and John A, married & son living in St. Leonards Road, Kingston on Thames. Both born bayswater, Middlesex. No spouse listed for John A, nor who head of family is!.

Nothing further.

Looking at the situation in reverse.

Only one John Alfred Barton's birth was registered in England & Wales between 1881-1891, Wandsworth 1d/613 q March 1883. The 1901 Census I believe this John, born in Clapham living with his parents in Clapham, Wandsworth; John A Barton ( born abt. 1856, Deptford, Kent ) & Mary E Barton.

Indeed a John ALBERT Barton was born in 1855 (Greenwich ) and married Mary Elizabeth Hughes in Deptford, Kent in 1880 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NJ31-G77). The name of the father of both bride & groom are recorded in the entry.

Thanks very much  for your help,I thought John A Barton born 1883 Wandsworth, sub district of Clapham was my grandfather (have his birth certificate ) till I got a   copy of  my grandparents marriage record ,g,g,father was John Arthur not John Albert.I then looked up the 1911 census and found 2 copy's one for John A Barton aged 28 yrs. living with his family at Bowyer Arms 68 Manor St. Clapham Surrey .The other John A Barton aged 28 yrs. was my grandfather ,grandmother ,my mother and  uncle, address 14 Beauchamps Rd .Upper Norwood.Surrey( I have his WW1 record's )                                    That is when I hit  a very high brickwall .

That's the reason I'm trying to work down from John Arthur Barton and Amelia Fanny Barton  nee Hooper.

Amelia's sister Mary Ann Harriet Margaret Hooper, B Leamington 1829-1904 was a author,( I found this info. on her website.) Moved to Upper Norwood Surrey London about 1850 ,that is where my grandfather was living when he  married in 1908.   ,My mother said she got 2 of her names from her greataunt   Harriett Marguerite .

Now I will carry on the search for the one missing link,

John Alfred Barton ,born first Quarter 1883.in Registration District

Wandsworth.. You will need to order birth certificate.It will probably show

his mothers maiden name.Then give me that info so i can trace his father

and grandfather.Parents names is not given on search sites.
