I don t want anyone to get hopeless :) but searching on the Dutch or German version of Unknown brings a lot of new unknown. :D So prolly in other language too. I will sit on the Dutch first........... http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Onbekend-65en http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unbekannt-25 and the xxx version http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Xxx-150 and the --- version http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/----40

XXX means they're from Amsterdam.  Right?   :D
Hahahaha! Right Vincent. :D

For the people that don't know, it is actually part of the city shield of Amsterdam.  Examples are all over the city.  But there are also fun knock-offs like the one below;

It would be great if WikiTree could add programming to recognize Unbekannt and Onbekend and similar words that mean "unknown" as equivalents to "Unknown", and generate the same kind of "[family name unknown]" output (ideally, in the appropriate language) that appears on profiles for LNABs of "Unknown."

Caution may be needed, however, to avoid adding this function for words that mean "Unknown" in some world language, but also turn out be the actual last names of real people.

Yes Ellen that would be great.

And good thing Ellen, on those having a real name "Unknown". Thank you!

I do not see the point of creating a profile called ''Unbekannt Unbekannt'' (Unknown Unknown), with no data for him, other than that he was married to a person with a real name. For his wife alone - with the real name and data - would suffice as a link binding any children as siblings to each other. But in the case of the example given, there are no children attached to the UNKNOWN profile. Unbekannt (Unknown) and his wife Engel Luisa Friedericka Schmidt had no children together. So, what is the point of creating a profile with no name and no data, other than to demonstrate that the woman was married to someone unknown ? But that can be more simply stated in the biography section ''She was married to a man, whose name is unknown.''
Albertus, some "Unknown Unknown" profiles do make sense. For example, "Unknown Unknown" might be a woman whose life dates and locations are known based on records for her husband and children, but her name has unfortunately been lost.

Well, one good thing has come from this ''Unbekannt Unbekannt'' profile: it demonstrates that even a man's name and all his personal identifiers (and not only a woman's!) can be lost to history. :)
