I found where Thomas W. Culp born 1852 was married to an Elizabeth Wood on line says they were married 1871. 1st child was born in 1871- 4th child was born 1880.  Then my grandpa William (Willie) Jackson Culp was born in 1891 and Thomas W. Culp born in 1852 is with Emma Lou Proffer about 1889. Could something have happened to Elizabeth?  I can not find any information on her yet, also have not found any on my great grand mother Emma Lou Proffer only thing I know is she has a brother, Harve Proffer in Kentucky and that was on Find A Grave, her death. Any help would be much appreciated Thank You.

Multiple marriages for both sexes are quite common, as much "back then" as now. After a spouse died, particularly if the surviving spouse had young children, it was common that they remarried, sometimes within months of their previous spouse' death.
