I have links that did work but are now broken. What should I do with them?

2 very similar but slight different issues:

1. I have many Wikitree "suggestions" that relate to links that formerly worked but now are broken.  Some of them are the result of sites requiring logins and in those cases I make reference to that fact.  Some relate to web pages which change their formatting standards and hence the URL changes.  In these cases I find the new link and update it.  For that remain I don't want to remove reference to the link as it was indeed the source of some bit of information in the profile. My link references do show when I saw it and what I saw but the link is broken.  Any suggestions for a better answer? (I considered quoting the entire link in the future but suspect that is copyright infringement.)  Many of these are obituaries.

2. FindAGrave memorials which have been removed.  If they are merged I change to the new memorial.  If it has fully been removed with no replacement, I leave the reference alone.  Again, when I enter the FindAGrave memorial originally I do indicate what it supported.  I care more about this when the original memorial which is now gone included a tombstone photograph with dates and spouses and/or a transcription of an obituary or an image of an obituary.

Summary - When I reference a source that provided meaningful information but it later becomes unavailable, what is the best solution?

UPDATE: As soon as I entered this question I found similar questions had been asked repeatedly.  It sounds like the most common answer is what I am doing.  Try to find the information another way if at all possible.  If not, leave the link as it is better than nothing and at least shows where the information came from even if it can't be viewed/confirmed.  Leaving the question in case anyone wants to add further comments.

You can sometimes find a Wayback link at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.
