U.S. Governors Project - May 2024

Question

We begin this month with just 43 governors left to connect to the Big Tree (out of 2500+). All are living and all but six were born after 1950, so they will not be found in the U.S. census records. That makes things tough. We have been able to identify the parents for 22 of these governors, but that still leaves 21 without any family connections. 

Nine of our unconnected governors are currently in office:

We have been working on connecting these profiles for nearly 18 months not, so they are not easy. But all it takes is one member to discover the missing link. Perhaps that member will be you! We welcome the help of anyone who wants to join in and give it a shot.

Dan McKee, the current and 76th Governor of Rhode Island, will very shortly show as connected through his paternal grandmother. I'm still working to add a a few more connections through this part of his family to further bolster his CC7.

I was able to add the parents and grandparents of Massachusetts governor Maura Healey. He paternal grandparents are from Ireland, but she seems to have deep Massachusetts roots on her mother's side if someone wants to try and make the connection.

The 51st governor of New Jersey Donald DiFrancesco is now connected He is 5th cousins with Bradley Cooper.

Former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam will be connected in the morning. He was the last unconnected Tennessee governor. His father is still living, but is a notable businessman, so his profile is open. He was connected through his fourth-great-grandfather, Thomas Young, who immigrated from England to Canada's Prince Edward Island in the early 1800s.
