Hi Pam,
In continuing with my theme by working with Connecticut Sutlers.
I have started research on Col. S. A. Cooley, 6th & 7th Connecticut, “Hartford Courant”, (Hartford, Connecticut), 14 Mar 1862, page 2; “Sutlers of the Civil War”
I’ll update to this post with the ongoing research
The smoking gun the source that proves he is the same man see full obit The Morning Journal-Courier, May 19, 1900, Page 10. The photographer, Sutler and colonel are the same!
I believe his obit posted in Hartford Courant, May 18, 1900, Page 9
See his FindAGrave memorial with really beautiful photos!

Edit: There is so much going on with this Sutler we can write a book on him alone but he needs categorizing as he was a man of so many ventures!! See obit for detail
He is now sourced and connected any improvement upon His profile is appreciated
Thank you
