There were a couple of girls baptized as Ethel Maude Ramsay in Prince County, Prince Edward Island but different dates and parents. The most I have found was Ethel M. for the Ethel born 1882.
It wasn't unusual for PE Islanders to go by their middle name, and then when they arrived in the States, they were recorded under their first name on official records - some just changed the order of their names and continued to use their second name as their first. It can make them difficult to track down. All of my great uncles who emigrated to the States are in Census records under their first names in the US, but known by their second name in the family.
Also married woman in Ethel's time in the US would appear in census records with the initial from their maiden name as their middle name, like Ethel R. Fuller. Not sure if Ethel did this.
