Is there an easier way to connect-a-thon

The first day I struggled and struggled and could not find a connection for the unconnected.  I checked on FamilySearch, Ancestry and Myheritage and could not find a connection to any of the profiles on which I was working.  Disappointed and disillusioned I went back to work on Saturday and lo and behold I discovered under research is "RootsSearch."  Amazing how helpful that is, making research so much easier and faster.  That will be my favorite "Go To."

RootsSearch is a great tool and I use it frequently, but you always need to double and triple check the sources and family relationships on Family Search and Ancestry.

One profile I worked on during the Connect-a-thon had 3 different wives and multiple duplicated children on FS.

Accuracy is always the most important aspect of a profile. An important part of accuracy is making sure profiles are Genealogically Defined

M Ross, I so agree with you that accuracy is most important when adding information to a profile.  It is just that I use to go to the three websites and go to the tiresome procedure of finding the person I was researching, which is quite time consuming. It is so much easier to use "RootsSearch" you get there faster.

My problem is when I see duplicates I have to stop what I am doing, research and make the repairs.  I spend too much time doing that, but I feel I must make it correct.

By your post I wonder if you have been a little confused with the title.

Connecting the unconnected is a little different from the adding new connections, which is more of what happens in a connect-a-thon.

Having said that I also struggled finding additions. As  my database crashed on the day before, so my carefully laid plans... well did not go a planned. Still I think I added 40 odd and went down a few "rabbit holes" getting thoroughly distracted from the competition.

NG Hill, I do or did have the incorrect idea of what "Connect-a-Thon" was about.  I guess I am going to have to rethink the process.  If I saw a person had no spouse I found their spouse for them or their parents, etc. even if I had to add a new profile.

So, are you saying One has to look for an existing relative and connect them?  If that is correct then that is a tough job!

May be I explained it wrong and maybe I got confused with the term 'connected'. That sounds more like the monthly Connectors Challenge.

My take on ConnectAthon is to keep adding new profiles  on to an existing profile the more relatives added the better.  The help pages say it better than I can.

I like competing in the Connect-A-Thons, and have slowed down my additions, doing it once rather than coming back later, which I hardly ever do.

Then there is also the Monthly Connectors challenge

where you try to connect profiles not on the "Big Tree" to other profiles that are.  I still find the concept of "Big Tree" connections hard to comprehend.  However I have participated for a couple of months with a total of three connections.  Certainly a challenge, at least for me.
