Hello everyone, I need some help from the project to sort and improve the first Gutknecht immigrants. I've been working on the Gutknecht ONS problem for some time now, but it's very hard to tackle decades-old myths and tons of unsourced online trees on your own.
I'm hoping to get some support and help as I'm not getting it from the PMs involved, in my experience.
I have started a freespace page about the Gutknecht problem here and would like to ask you to look over it and question my research or, in the best case, confirm it. I will also write in detail about the other two immigrants, but I would like to at least give the first one (and his father) a try here, and if we can agree on it start to disconnect and merge away the not belonging children.
Since it is really a battle against windmills to fight against such entrenched errors, I would like to request that all three immigrants are also placed under project protection, so that the entry of further false links is prevented in the future. For this, too, I would need someone with the necessary rights to look over it.

In short: The '''Problem''': Nearly all online trees and family legends claim that "three brothers" emigrated to America mid 18th century. Christian Gutknecht in 1749 on the ship "Christian", Johann Michael Gutknecht in 1752 on the "Neptune", and finally Georg "Gerick" Gutknecht in 1754 on the "Recovery". As you will see, only two are actually brothers, but the first immigrant belonged to another family. Please see the draft for the revised Profiles on the FSP and feel free to ask or give further advice, how we can solve this problem and repaire the mess.
