Elijah Alexander Moore (abt. 1790 - abt. 1847)[[Moore-75551|Elijah Alexander Moore (abt.1790-abt.1847)

I don’t have any sources just family trees. This person lived and died in the Union County area of North Carolina but I am not absolutely sure where he was born or his parents names. Can someone help me with this? I would be very grateful.

A first thing to consider is that Union County was not formed until 1842 from parts of Anson and Mecklenberg and in turn those counties were formed from others (parts of this going back to Bath County in 1696). I would first try to ascertain which part of Union County in which you know he lived or died, then work backward in time with appropriate county names and see what records can be found. Finding where certain former county records reside can be a bit of a challenge and places like Ancestry don't always have the digitized records properly indexed. If the first marriage is documented as Mecklenberg County, that may be a clue -- it may be he never moved, just the county boundaries moved.
Thank you for your comment and helpful information. I think I am having particular trouble because this is an ancestor that did move around. There were some Moores on the East coast of North Carolina (Pender annd possible New Hanover counties) and are one point he seems to have lived there.  I can’t seem to find any info on him. What I usually do I try to find a patent name and then work from that. His wife’s family was living in the Union County area and just before that he father seems to have traveled through Ireland through Pennsylvania to the Union area of North Carolina. I’m looking for other siblings, or parents names so that the info I find Im able to determine if it is the right family. Do you have any ideas about how to find that information? Thank you for your help!
