Thank you for including me in the South Central Appalachian Team. Almost all of my paternal roots originate from early Virginia to the Carolinas, on to Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and finally Arkansas. My most recent current personal challenge concerns John Oldham Hightower (Sr) wiki Hightower-162. Born in Virginia, a member of the Watauga Settlement in North Carolina and a Signer of the Watauga Petition of 1776 in Tennessee, died in 1823 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, he is all over the Appalachia map!!. My other southern surnames are Walker, White, Shirley, Seaton, Hightower, Coleman.

Thanks Lea.  If you could add your information to the South Central Appalachia Regional Team (next to your name in the list) that would be great.  If you need any assistance as you work through Appalachian profiles, our Project page is filled with great details, help, and advice.

One of the most important pages in our Project is the Counties of Appalachia page.
