Hi Wikitreers,

Let’s see if we can connect the genealogy behind the vintage antique post card in my collection.

I have in my antique vintage post card collection a post card to a Miss Anita Auman post marked August 3, 1920 appears time of day was 6:30pm. Heading on front reads “Grammar School, East Hampton, Conn.”

We need collaboration on transcribing the post card and handwriting.

1.) Who was Miss Anita Auman?

2.) Who was the sender “Helen”

3.) Is there a 1920 census of Miss Anita Auman living at Manasquan Beach, Manasquan, New Jersey (with a line crossed through New York)?

4.) Was the two women possibly School teachers?

5.) Miss Anita Aumin or Aisman? c/o Mrs. Pebbs ? Box 90 Manasquam Beach New Jersey.

Any collaboration is appreciated

Thank you

4.  I doubt the sender was a teacher.  A teacher would have said 'would have written sooner', not 'would have wrote sooner'.  Plus, that's a terrible run-on sentence!  devil

Good insight I wouldn’t of noticed laugh

Not a teacher, used the wrong your/youʻre also.  Really nice penmanship.

I would search for Mrs. Tibbs/Tebbs since it is her Box #.

Today I found a 1944 letter from Hiroshima to Hawaii. The rest is in kanji and I need my friend Shigeo to read it to me.

Dear Andrew,

If the recipient was the teacher, you may have some tough research ahead.  Manasquan was and is a popular beach vacation destination.  I envision Miss Anita relaxing in the sun before she returns to her teaching job in Connecticut.

Does the school still exist?  Would employment records for teachers be available?  I would check for her there.  -NGP

Her name could also be Aisman, and there was an Anita Aisman living in New York in 1920. She was 12 at the time. The beach address may have been a temporary vacation rental.

I was leaning toward “Aisman” also and seems like a lead hereyes

I agree I think everyone should look at their vintage post cards it might be the last thing on earth or essence of them if they weren’t a notable etc. it’s fun and helps genealogy as a whole laugh

Edit: plus clues about siblings and parents etc might help connect them or be that missing source needed.
