Deep dive into Civil War records; cross-sectional Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia memorial may be pivotal

I feel like I've tweaked this profile as much as is possible (previously had no death information, and FamilySearch said death in Civil War, burial in Petersburg, but nothing specific). In the comments on the profile is a memorial page for a man who may be the same: it tags a  Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia memorial, but describes in a narrative  a man that that doesn't quite fit... conflation?

If anyone's near Petersburg, maybe a visit to the marker can help set the record straight?

Thanks,

Porter

I added his service record information. That included his enlistment date and date he was killed in action at Petersburg. Note that the original file was listed as Woodward, and subsequent documents indicate his name was Woodard. I also added the index card information from National Park Service Civil War database because (1) it shows the name change in the records and (2) the name change of his regiment.

His service record did not include burial information. It did include that Rebecca Woodard filed a claim. The amount she was paid was not listed.
