Can someone help me to transcribe my GGfather's italian marriage act? It is a bit ilegible. I've transcribed myself, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Please send me an email message to sent you the act that is in pdf format along with my transcription.

Thanks in advance.

My email: yes2win@yahho.com

One of my doubts on this act are the dates on it. As the marriage was carried out in Pavia (My GGmother birthplace), it was transcribed to Firenze (my GGfather birth place), where I got it. I'm not sure what was actually the married date. See this... At the end it says: ... estratto conforme a Pavia ventotto Giugno milleottocentosettantanove. At least would like to be sure the real wedding date. Thank you!

Looking at the portion of the transcribed act in Firenze you have posted I was able to see the date and record number of the original record.

Here is the original (#102, right side): https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99WR-661X

It's dated 27 Jun 1879.

Groom: Giovanni Ippolito Antonio Cavallini, age 22, gymnast, born in Firenze, single, son of the married couple living Giuseppe, gymnast, living in Firenze, and living Paolina Matucci, equestrienne, living in Firenze

Bride: Giuseppa Maria Catterina Costa, age 17, gymnast, born in Gallarate (Varese), living in Pavia, single, daughter of the married couple living Luigi, horse dealer, living in Pavia, and deceased Carolina Pozzoli, ???

Note also that this is only a civil marriage record. Church marriages were recorded separately in this era so if they had a church marriage, it may have been on a different date.

PS - also found Carolina Pozzoli's 1871 death record, I will add to her profile and link it.

Hey Frank,

This is absolutely crazy. How did you do that?

Thanks a lot man!!!

I can say that the content in that document, which appears to be the original, is exactly the same transcribed from Pavia to Firenze. But this one can be read better.  Thanks God they transcribed!!!!

As you can see, my GG parents were children of two families that formed the foundation of today's Italian circus artists. Till today many of my relatives inherited that tradition and spread around the world.

Please, let me know if it is possible for you how to enter Pavia microfilms, as I need to find the Costa branch ancestors. Perhaps there's also baptismal church records. I would like to see all of them.

Frank, I remain completely stunned grateful with all my heart to you, what you have done has been quite powerful to me.
Pavia records from 1866 to 1929 are available freely on FamilySearch. It's only civil records. Links:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2043830

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/831505?availability=Family%20History%20Library

It's too bad there are no marriage allegati available, it would have been nice to have a baptism extract for Giuseppa from Gallarate.

There's some church records available online but I think only related to Austrian Army information (Pavia was part of the Austrian-controlled Kingdom of Lombary-Veneto from 1815-1859).

I think the best you will be able to do with the online resources is look for marriage and death records for Luigi and his other children.

The marriage publication for Giovanni's and Giuseppa's marraige gives Luigi Costa's age as about 55:

Frank,

I have no words to thank you for this tremendous assistance.

I'll start searching calmy in the links you have given me.

About Giuseppa's baptism act, one day years ago, I wrote emails to several places, and one day suddenly I received from the Milan diocese a copy of her baptism. Why from Milan and not from Gallarate? I don't really know. The act of course included her parent' names and her full name starting Maria not Giuseppa. It was also something incredible! same with their marriage act from Firenze where I didn't have her name and exactly wedding date.

I like genealogy, but i'm actually a beginner who just wants to achieve things, and many things happened just like miracle.

Since my parental ancestors are from Firenze it was quite easy to find lots of acts from opera duomo archives, but nothing from the COSTA family.

Well, I thank you once again for your kindness, prompt and accurate response.

A big hug!!!
Gallarate falls under the Archdiocese of Milan. Does the record say Gallarate on it? The marriage publication says they received Giuseppa's baptism record from the pastor of the Gallarate parish.

Anyway, continued good luck with your genealogy research.
That's interesting... You mean the baptismal record? The record from the arcidiocesi di milano - archivio storico diocesano, states that;

Maria Catterina Giuseppa, daughter of Luigi e Carolina Pozzoli, was born in Gallarate, and baptized the next day at Santa Maria Assunta church in Gallarate.

The thing is that they were residents from Pavia but she was born relatively in a far away place, not related even with the region. How is possible to find people that way? I was lucky to get that act years ago after asking here and there.

I would like to find her parents, something like their family history but once Pavia city hall answered me that Pavia is also the whole region that includes many cities. If so this would have mentioned in the record, but didn't.

And now many Italian city halls are asking for the PEC ( certified email ), which is difficult to create. Right now they just don't reply. Also many related websites are being renovated or have been changed, leaving them isolated from us, people who are searching from all over the world.

Perhaps I will send an email to the Gallarate church to try to get more info...

See this...

At the end it says:

... estratto conforme a Pavia ventotto Giugno milleottocentosettantanove.

At least would like to be sure the real wedding date. Thank you!
