WikiTree tools are great!

I've been having lots of geeky fun in the 6 weeks since I joined WikiTree. First I found the WikiTree Sourcer which makes it so incredibly easy to add source citations. Next I found my suggestions list which was amazing, even though most of the things it complained about weren't actual problems.

Today, I've been getting to know the WBE. I love the Auto-Bio and categorization features - I still have lots of biographies to add and this will be an enormous help.

So I just want to say a huge thank you to all those involved in developing these things. They're a tremendous asset for WikiTree and I think you should 'blow your own trumpets' more often!

I totally agreee.  I do not know what I would do without the sourcer add on.

Do not forget to look at the Tree Apps as well.

My favourite is the cc7 app.  Unfortunately it is not working for me at the moment.

But when it was I found it very useful, sorting by created or modified to find who any new connections are, or finding those without parents that I could work on to expand my cc7.    (CC7 as I understand it is connections to me up to seven steps/generations away.)

I really hope it is working again for me soon,  now just goes into la la land.   Hope it works better for you!

there's a known problem with it right now, there's some posts on g2g about the details.  It should work better if you're working from a grand/great-grandparent, I think, since the problems are around privacy issues.  So just adjust your numbers to account for where you're starting from.

It makes me happy that the efforts of us volunteers are appreciated. You also might want to have a look at WikiTree BEE, because "BEE's not dead!"

Although I have been on Wikitree almost four years I hadn't been following G2G forum much. Last month I added Wikitree Sourcer, it is great. And now also added Wikitree Browser Extension, eye-opening stuff. heart

Thank you for posting this, Lesley. WikiTree's volunteer developer community is outstanding. This group is the future of our project.

The tools are great. There are times I'm looking for a category and you can pull it up quickly. The same with stickers, altho some of the names for the stickers are different, not always what I expect. (Coding members of the Masonic Lodge can be somewhat obscure)

WickiTree Sourcer is invaluable if you use references from other sites (FamilySearch for example) the ability to auto generate templates without a lot of editing, is outstanding.

My only issue with the new tools is that sometimes they just go off into space, particularly the auto categorization tool.
Its a random things, and seems to happen during the day in the Eastern Time Zone. Since most of my profiles are in one name studies, I'd like to auto categorize them if I could.

The FindAGrave cleanup tool is also great, cleaning up those citations can be tricky.

I just worry about the AI generated narratives... My big issue with many of the other sites is that they want to write this pseudo-folksy style that wastes words and sometimes is just plain wrong. You still have to look at the referenced document, read it and sometimes interpret what is says.

Keep 'em coming - as someone who uses inline refs, anything to make it faster and more accurate is fine by me.

I manage the Freemasonry free space page. There is info there about stickers and categories.

I'm also a Freemason myself, if you need any help.
As far as I know there are no AI generated narratives, those are just automated, but "by hand".

Tools is a big reason that I even got drawn into Wikitree to begin with. Wikitree+ is also a great asset that I sometimes forget about using for period (https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm) but today I searched for one of my ancestral villages and just went through the list and added categories to those profiles that were missing it.

Very handy. I use it mostly to find the FamilySearch information and to convert Ancestry images to shareable links. It's very, very good at that. Have used a few other checks, but, those 2 are my favorite abilities.

Lesley: Thank you for recognizing the work of our talented volunteers who have created such great features.

As well, thank you for all of your hard work since you joined WikiTree six short weeks ago. Anne
