Johann Conrad Lübbers

Birthdate/Place: 1818 (?), Oesselse, amt Ruthe, Könighsreich Hannover (1814-1866)

Looking for: Parents; date of marriage to Trijntje Janßen, widow of Dirk Hinrichs van Velde (m. 31 July 1836); date and place of death

Two verified mentions of JC Lübbers

  1. Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1971 (birth record of his daughter (1848))

[English translation of German text]
Directory of those born and baptized in Pewsum in the year 1848.

2. On the (24) twenty fourth of February at 5:00 in the morning, the widow of the deceased local laborer Dirk Hinrichs of Velde [map], by name Treenie ["Trientje"] Janßen [Janssen], was delivered of an illegitimate child. The landgendarme Johann Conrad Lübbers, born in Oesselse [spelled Össelse by Meyer's], amt of Ruthe, and stationed here, declared himself to be the father of the girl. The child was baptized on 26th of March and named Elisabeth Dorothea Lübbers.

Witnesses to the baptism: I, D. R. Tillmann and the child's grandmother on the maternal side, Allie ["Aaltje"] Jurgens, widow of Jann Otten of Jennelt.

I've uploaded the record here if anyone wants to take a look at the original.

2. Deutschland, ausgewählte evangelische Kirchenbücher 1500-1971," database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QP2P-WNGT : 5 April 2023), Johann Conrad Lübbers in entry for Elisabeth Dorothea Lübbers, 26 Mar 1848 (p712, entry 2); images digitized and records extracted by Ancestry; citing Baptism, Pewsum, Pewsum, Landkreis Emden, Provinz Hannover, Preußen, Deutsches Reich, , German Lutheran Collection, various parishes, Germany.

Questions

  • Does it seem possible that "landgendarme stationed here" meant that he was part of the Landgendarmeriekorps, a part of the army of the Kingdom of Hannover? Anyone know if there's an online source for those records?

  • Would anyone be able to confirm for me that the parish of Oesselse was part of the Kirchenkreis Sarsted (if so, those records do not appear to be online, alas)

  • Any other tips for/help in breaking this wall aside from a trip to Germany?

There's also one unverified reference, but this is related to where he was stationed in 1848 (and likely the source of his birthdate) and not anything to do with his birthplace

The correct name is Oesselse.

The Amt Ruthe was in 1848 an administrative district of the Königreich Hannover. 1859 it was merged into the Amt Hildesheim.

Landgendarm were the police officers on the country side. That has nothing to do with Prussia. This area became part of Preußen in 1866.
