Why am I not able to copy/paste without the huge green background?

Recently I've notice that when I copy/paste from a profile, the name itself is huge, and there's a huge green (format?) in the background.  Before, when I had this problem, I'd just select the green area and click the "Remove Format" icon which not only removed the green background, but also make the font smaller.  However, when I try doing this now, it does not work.  Help!

I think you mean when you copy and paste into G2G?

Depending on what device I am on, sometimes I de-format by copy, paste into Google or note sheet. Copy again and paste in G2G.

Correct.  I was trying to answer "Which Dragon are you most closely related to?" - sorry that I did not put in the G2G.

Also, my font is barely readable (at least to me).

I am using the device I normally use (desk top). I did try using my phone briefly, but it was too difficult for me, so I gave up.  Maybe I did something while using my phone, and if so, how do I fix it?
It depends what device/OS/browser you are using.

I am using Chrome on Mac and what I do is use the Chrome menu item "Edit -> Paste and Match Style".
I am using Chrome, on Windows.  I only tried using WikiTree on my phone just once, but normally there is no issue with copy/paste.  Sometimes, I get the green background/format with the copy/paste, but I'm always able to get rid of it by selecting the area that's green and clicking the remove format button.  But for some reason when I try that now, it makes things worse (it deletes the font entirely and leaves me with the green area).
I noticed that Shaun Doust had almost the same issue June 24, 2018.
...but I may be wrong (about the issue in 2018).  By the way, I use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V for copy/pasting with normally no problems.

I had not noticed the "Remove Format" ( Tx ) button in G2G until you mentioned it. It doesn't seem to work for me but I don't know if it ever did.

Tx removes format from selected text. It doesn't do anything if you don't select text first.

A problem with it is that it doesn't always set the font size to default. It helps if as well as using select all and Tx, you select all, change size to say 8 using the Size drop-down at the top, then select all again and change Size to Default.

This always use to work for me until very recently.  I was in recovery since Dec. 6th, and when I came back (on the 8th), it was no longer working correctly.  And yes, I first select the items before clicking the Tx button/icon.
I will try using the process (with the use of select all).  However, why is this happening all of a sudden?  And why is the green format/background not going anywhere?  It seems the Tx is not working correctly, as now quite  often the font totally disappears when I select (instead of making the font smaller?) the green area.
I think I fixed the problem - instead of copy/pasting from the font with the green background at the top, I opted to try and copy/paste the same name that is listed below (listed in the profile section). When pasted, it first is with a black background, but when (after first selecting the name with the black background) and clicking the Tx button, it removes the black, leaving just the desired font. :)
