What has happened to the G2G Feed?

Something has happened to the G2G feed that I see in the last couple of days.  G2G says "The feed below is currently limited to the first 50 items within 30 days" however what I've seen on the first page of the items for the last year has been limited to the last day or two. As of yesterday, I was seeing a total of 5-6 items, then had to click "View the Full Feed" which brought up multiple pages with 5 or 6 items per page.

Today I get 7 items on the feed, have to click View the Full Feed to see any others and then its only 5 items per page after the first and its populated with significant repetition showing each Answer or Comment to the same question as a separate item.  This makes a quick scan of G2G cumbersome and tedious.

The browser being used does not make a difference in this. Has something been changed in error that has affected how the G2G feed is presented? I would dearly love for it to go back to how it was presented a couple of years ago which was certainly nearer the first 50 items within 30 days.

What is the URL of the feed you are talking about, T?

Ok, it looks as if you mean

https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/following

Maybe there just aren't many posts these days in the tags you happen to be following?

Perhaps the Recent Activity feed is worth considering instead:

Yes, G2G activity has fallen off a cliff in nearly all areas but looking back through past posts on similar questions I get the impression what shows in the feed has never been corrected to actually show "50 posts within the last 30 days." The feed simply does not show "50 posts within the last 30 days." The feed only shows posts within 24-48 hours (sometimes even a shorter time period).

I'm not clear on what the issue may be from prior responses by Jamie to similar inquiries but if we have to read the entire feed for all tags, the idea of following tags in order that you can simply get to relevant content isn't working.
I agree the "50 items within 30 days" promise is not being met. Something is breaking up the pages in the full feed so they are a lot shorter than that.

Of course there is another problem: many posts do not have appropriate tags to start with. I think that is a bigger reason why trying to read G2G based on selecting tags is of limited value.

Jim, I disagree with that. I don't have the time to scan or read hundreds of posts and give the necessary attention to the projects I lead while working with limited time. So, the tags are essential to me. Of late I even dropped categorization tag because it is now flooded with issues that genealogically speaking I find of little or no value.

It depends whether you are content with a partial feed of only some posts on a topic, or would prefer to have a complete one.
I do not find that to be the case.

It would be my hope that at some point, after several years of the discussion about the tag feed, that it be resolved.

During the Livecast from RootsTech just now, the techs asked for more examples of exactly how this feed is broken:

My Tags followed are 100_CIRCLES, BLACKALL, CAHIR, CLANCY, CONNECTORS, DNA, DNA_GROUP_PROJECT, DNA_PAINTER, EPOW, IRELAND, IRISH_ROOTS, LIVECASTS, MCNAMARA, MEET_OUR_MEMBERS, ODEA, WALDRON, WIKITREE_CHALLENGE

Currently
https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/following
is showing me just 9 items (not 50) and all within the last two hours (none from the previous 30 days).

I hadn't actually noticed that this was broken until I saw this post.

Thanks for the example :)
Jamie, is this something that is being worked on?

Is there a G2G feed which includes threads which I started or to which I have contributed, even if they do not relate to tags which I am following?

And is there a way to include a dot (full stop, period) in a tag? I just tagged a post with "thepeerage.com", but it was split into two separate tags "thepeerage" and "com".

Hi Paddy. It depends what you mean by "feed". If you look near the top of your G2G profile

https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/user/Waldron-201

then the links to Recent Activity, All Questions and All Answers provide much of what you are asking about. There is no way to see all comments you've made, only recent ones.

Tags can contain hyphens and underscores but not as far as I know other punctuation.

Thanks, Jim. I thought their might be a tickbox somewhere to combine my interests and my contributions together, but I've now bookmarked the separate pages.

This should be fixed now.
