Seeking Wales Project support on this supposed noble Welsh Hughes line

This profile has been purported to be the father of a questionable-existence early settler of Virginia, but I see that his profile and those above him are unsourced.

Yet he has "Sir" in his title.

Anyone from the Wales project want to take on sourcing/cleaning up this line?

Many thanks.

Thanks Jillaine. I will add some sources.

Based on a few searches, it's quite clear that the early settler, Capt John Hughes (abt 1625 - bef, 1655) (Hughes-383) is attached to the wrong father.

The person connected as his father is John Hughes, of Glan yr afon, Llanallgo, who was buried in 1755. He had a son John Hughes, rector of Llandegfan, who died in 1754.

The family is recorded in the pedigree of "Tre'rdafarn, Llanallgo" in Pedigrees of Anglesey and Carnarvonshire Families, page 69,

The earlier generations are also shown in Lewys Dwnn's Heraldic visitations of Wales; between the years 1586 and 1613, vol. 2, page 261.
