Need the parents &/or grandparents names of William Smith (LCZK-QZS) 1756-1837 Jericho VT & m. to Ruth Woods 1759-1837?

Father is believed to be Joshua Smith b. 17 Jul 1720 d. 16 Jul 1771 who m. Mercy Snow on 07 Jan 1742.  However, conflicting info. claims that Joshua's son also named "William" was killed in battle, so can not be the "William" that m. Ruth Wood.  Thus, I need names for, and documentation on, Ruth Woods husband's ancestry.   Thanks in advance for any help you can supply.

It's The history of Jericho, Vermont, searchable through archive.org.  It doesn't seem to give William's parents' names but has lots of other genealogical and historical info.
