Teaming with the Southern Cross Stars for this Connect-a-Thon? That's great news!! We're so happy to have you on our team.

Here is where you can ask any questions or tell the rest of us what you are planning to work on.

We are also on Discord Chat for the Thon. This time we're doing things a little differently and have an Aussie Challenge Teams channel, so that we can chat with others focusing on Australian profiles. If you are a member of the Southern Cross Stars, you will have access to that channel if you're on Discord.

Start date and time: Friday 19 January 2024 - 12am NSW, VIC, TAS, 11pm QLD, 11.30pm SA, 9pm WA

End date and time: Monday 22 January 2024 - times as above

Here's a Time Zone Calculator

Wondering how you can help? Here are some suggestions.

If you haven't registered yet for the January 2024 Connect-a-Thon, here's where you can join up - January 2024 Connect-a-Thon registration

I corrected the start times. Kindly alerted by Katie ... phew!!! That would have been a hassle.

Looking forward to the weekend. I'm planning to continue working on connecting up profiles of those killed in the Mount Kembla Mining Disaster. Also I hope to connect up a few more of our unconnected Australian Notables.

I'll be working on some of my family profiles that I have been saving as bookmarks since our last connect-a-thon. I'm also hoping to get some Church of England baptism and burial records from my hometown of Maitland, NSW added and connected.

That sounds great Brad. Didn't realise you were in Maitland. I'm in Newcastle now.
Yes, I'm just down the road Gillian. I've moved away a couple of times, but keep coming back.

Hi,

I'll be mainly working on CC7, CC8 and CC9 connections.  I'm in preparation mode now (ha ha!) with about 200 profiles ready to add.  However, time may be the issue to actually create them all.

Let's see how we go.  The Connect-A-Thons are always fun.

If you're interested in Aussie profiles, why not join the team?

Nice one Nigel. None of the rest of us have thought about CC8 and CC9. Always ahead of the pack!!

I have a personal category chock-a-block full of profiles to have family added for my CC7, it never seems to get any smaller. Hopefully this time around.

If anyone runs out of profiles that want family added to them, this category has quite a few, ready and waiting. There are links on the category page to find ones from each Australian state plus NT and ACT.

Thanks Margaret. Yes, it would be great to get some of those needs profiles categories cleared. I'll plan to do a few!

I aim to add more of my SA colonial relatives - siblings and children of immigrant ancestors, their spouses and their 2nd-gen children.

I hope to get an idea of current progress before the thon, so I can start with the earliest missing profiles.

I have several family history books written in the 1970s and 1980s which are probably only guides not real references, but at least one of my grandparents has about 100 cousins who are not on Wikitree yet. They will be CC5 so spouses and kids are CC6 born in late 19th and early 20th century.

Scoring for the Source-a-thon is still based on adding profiles, not on adding connections - is that right? I'll add connections if I can fin them anyway.

Sounds excellent. Thanks Scott!

Hi, I am really sorry but I won't be able to contribute to The Southern Cross Stars this time. Hope it goes well.

And I haven't done any prep at all so will be working at a snail's pace. Maybe I should have joined the toddlin tortoises! I've also got visitors so that will severely dent the time available. Still, I should be able to add something!

Melanie, I think lots of us are the same, not a problem, the main thing is to have fun!
Hi Melanie, I've got visitors over the weekend too! Please don't worry at all. I'm just happy you're on the team :-)
