Did I program an error"

A couple of weeks ago I was working on the profile of a Welsh prince who lived and died in Wales in the 1200s.  A couple of days later it was called to my attention that I had placed the man's birth in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States, and his death in Botetourt, Virginia.  Embarassed at such a nonsensical error, I apologized and corrected the entries.

Today another Wales profile was called to my attention with exactly the same Maryland and Virginia entries.  I have a hard time thinking I made exactly the same nonsensical mistake on two separate profiles!

Is there some way I triggered an automatic program that is converting multiple medieval Wales profiles to Maryland and Virginia statistics?

Or am I just losing it?

Have you checked the changes. There you can see all the info and when they were changed.

Sorry Jack, but when I alerted you to the first mistake, I did notice that there were four or five profiles all with the same two geographical errors and all edited in the same time period.  I meant to alert you to the others but got busy with something else.

I just assumed you were working on automatic pilot and thinking about something else at the time, or were copying and pasting but inadvertently pasted the wrong information? I've certainly done both of those things myself and I'm sure I'm not losing it (well at least that's what I tell myself :))

I agree with John. Definitely something any of us could do. Apart from checking profiles changes as mentioned by Gary Nevius, you could also check your own editing (contributions) record for edits in that period. Like I think John is suggested it might be something such as using a copy-paste cache that had something you did not expect in it.

The cache idea makes sense -- the idea of making an identical error on multiple profiles appalls me!
