Where is the source for the Death date and place for George Welch?

Question

Cannot find any information at any of Maine's Vital Statistic offices.  Nothing regarding his death, no newspaper obit, nothing. So I would like to know what source you used for the information stating his death of may 4, 1898 in Presque Isle, Aroostook, Maine.  Interested as George Welch is my great-great-grandfather by marriage to Alzina Maria Welch.

There is a profile on Ancestry for George. The source for the death date is "Mayflower application for June Campbell". There is no reference citation, so that cannot be checked.

I agree with Melanie, in the changes log click on the individual who made the change/addition of date in 2021. You will then be able to send him the question.

Only George Welch I found in the time frame was a Find A Grave.. Several George Welch's in Maine on Ancestry, only one that matches in 1880 census, and nothing further

Note says 62 year old son of George, which calculates to DOB of 1848

I checked the sources on George's FamilySearch-profile. In the marriage document of his daughter Theresa with Cecil Pulcifer (Theresa's second marriage), George is noted as "deceased". So I would note the death date as "before Oct 1908".

The document for the first marriage of Theresa puzzles me though. I can't solve that with my tired brain now.
