Can the information from my Family Search site be transfered to Wikitree?

Be very careful with sources attached to profiles on Family Search.

The sources often contain worthwhile and accurate information, though lots are mistranscribed or inaccurately indexed.

The sources are often attached to the wrong people, and conflated people, two or more people that have been entered as the same person because they have similar names and probably lived in the same area.

This often leads to impossibly large families, with multiple overlapping spouses and many children born too close together.

If you have done the research and are sure the information is accurate then go ahead.

If someone else has added the sources you need to be sure it is accurate for the profile.

One way to do this is the WikiTree Sourcer browser extension. This allows you to capture the person data from the FamilySearch profile (including citations for all the sources) and then fill in the fields on the WikiTree add person screen with this data.

Be sure to experiment with the options in WikiTree Sourcer before you transfer lots of profiles as there are many options that control how citations are formatted, what information is transferred, whether household tables are automatically generated etc.

I use Sourcer every day, it's a really great way to transfer data (and to look for sources).
 Just be careful to check the accuracy of the info on FamilySearch, some profiles have inaccurate dates, names and sources, and can be a mix of 2 or more people.
