FamilySearch display change

Perhaps I'm the only one this has happened to, because I haven't seen any discussion about it here. But when I click on the record display icon on a FamilySearch page for a census record and certain other types of records, instead of seeing the old page with the handy one-click Citation copy button at the bottom, I'm seeing a different format, without all the citation details of the old page and no one-click button.

Fortunately, I've stumbled on a workaround. If you go up to the address bar and delete the first question mark and everything after it, then hit the Enter key, you get the old format back.

For example, here's the original URL I got: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-64JS-RM2?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AMWZ6-4B4&action=view

and after deleting the extraneous stuff: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-64JS-RM2

Fortunately the WikiTree Sourcer extension still works on this view for creating citations.

Thanks for this tip, Stuart. Another unhelpful recent FamilySearch change is a new login screen which no longer seems to have the "keep me logged in for two weeks" option.

When you use your modified URL, the "Copy Citation" button gives this "United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-64JS-RM2?cc=1401638&wc=95R4-R9P%3A1031308001%2C1031559501%2C1031636201 : 9 April 2016), New Hampshire > Cheshire > Alstead > image 14 of 34; citing NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).

You are not the only one. There is a new image viewer, but as you have found, there is a way to get to the old one.

I searched the FamilySearch blog and didn't see it discussed, but it could be there.

It is discussed on the FamilySearch Community. Here is one discussion.

And another discussion.
