Do you use the book "Families of Old Fairfield" by Donald Lines Jacobus?

In this source, Jacobus cites a source called "Miss Treadwell's Book", but he does not offer any information about this source. The complete transcription of this source, with the genealogy of Miss Treadwell was published in the "Connecticut Ancestry" (2020 & 2022). Since none of this is available for free online, here are a few interesting facts:

  • Miss Treadwell’s Book is located in the archives at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road, Fairfield, Connecticut.
  • There are at least 16 times that Jacobus cites Miss Treadwell, but the information is not found in her book.
  • "Miss Treadwell" is Mary Treadwell, but multiple people contributed to "her" book.

Additional information is on the WikiTree page for "Families of Old Fairfield".

Thank you for creating the free space space, Rick.

I do have a bit of errata for the work. I believe there is a conflation of two men named John Butler. I go into some detail about it in the profiles of John Butler of Norwalk (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Butler-28950) and Dr. John Butler of Stratford (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Butler-28949).

I see the free space page asks for people to add errata on the page, but since nobody has added one, yet, I am hesitant to invent a style in which to include it. Perhaps you could give me some guidance on what you'd like to see there, i.e. how much detail, etc.? Or, if you care to review the John Butler profiles, you may find that you'd like to take on the role of showing an example of how you'd like the errata to look, using this case as fodder?

Ok, I took a stab at it, after figuring out that there was an example there, it just wasn't referencing a Wikitree page as I had in mind, since that's what I have for explanation of the issue. I hope what I've added works for you, but if not no biggie :)

BTW let me plug those John Butler profiles as a bit mysterious -- if anybody can figure out who these guys were before they popped up in Fairfield County, that would be neat. I really need to get to a FHC to see deeds, I think, if there's to be hope.
Thank you for adding that information. The format looks good.
