This post is made at request of M Cole for information on records for early Fairfield, Connecticut which do not exist.
Per genealogist Dale Kellogg: town established 1639 and only in 1648 do town and probate records begin; the town records are mostly land records not of particularly great use to genealogists (per Kellogg). The early volume of probate records has been lost (dates not given) and the second volume is heavily damaged. Abstract from Connecticut Nutmegger 25:549 (1992)

As this pertains to the Barlow family (such as Elizabeth (Barlow) Frost) the basic reconstruction of what records are available and what can with any certainty be inferred is contained in Jacobus' work. Dates seen throughout many secondary sources, family genealogies and online trees is generally nothing more than guesswork and much of it of very poor quality or in some cases dates have been made to fit a narrative started by Lancashire records which are not of this family. Kellogg's (FOGS) later work (1992) on the Barlow family commences where Jacobus left off and is aptly titled "An Exercise in Probability, the Children of John Barlow...." At this time, Kellogg's work is the most in-depth on the family taken from a purely critical view of extant records and well-educated projections. Unless records were found to refute Kellogg's work, I believe it should be that which informs the WikiTree profiles on the family.
