Hello WikiTreers!

In each WikiTree Challenge we partner with another group in the worldwide genealogy community. Together we research seven degrees of connections for seven starting people chosen by our partner.

Challenge #17 will be another adventure as we head to the southern United States! Our partner is the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society, Nashville ChapterAAHGS is the premier organization dedicated to documenting and disseminating African-American genealogy and history.

Our week will begin Thursday, November 30, at noon EST (5pm UTC) and end December 7, at noon EST. Will you join us? You don't need any particular skills to participate. Everyone is welcome.

Please reply below if you are interested. (Please post an answer instead of a comment.)

When we begin our week, there will be answer threads here for the seven starting profiles, to facilitate collaboration, post questions, discoveries, and bounty point claims.

Please also join our live chat in Discord. There is always a lot of fun discussion and collaboration there.

Looks like I connected him through Green Williamson Jeter (abt.1844-1917) and his daughter, Dora Edyth (Jeter) Means (1867-abt.1905) who is some grandson's in-law's in-law, I think.  I was in the weeds, that's for sure.
And another one, yay!

Can anyone find children of Preston's who survived into adulthood?  I'm going sideways with siblings and in-laws to try to connect him to The Big Tree. -NGP

Going with the Hattie Whitley Tyree documents for his child.   The details are in the Research Notes on Preston's profile.  Please alter it as proper or necessary or needed.  -NGP

Jenkinson-562 connected Taylor and Ewing, so when I connected Ewing, it connected them both.

I connected Ella Sheppard Moore to the big tree through her granddaughter Daile Moore’s husband Archibald Warren Madison who was already in WikiTree.
Connected to the global tree (the previous connection was an unconnected pre-existing family):  Essie Mae (Reagin) Reid (1892-1983) to her father Robert H Reagin (abt.1854-1911) an in-law of in-law connection, possibly outside of 7, we'll see when they refresh.
Wait, I wasn't the first, someone else made a connection before me!
Good job with connecting, Elizabeth!

7. Callie Guy House

Connection:

Brick Wall: prove parent or additional siblings of her husband William House. It appears she and her sister married brothers, but there may be more siblings.

Connected via Theodore Samuel Plunkett Jr whose parents were already on WikiTree. Theodore is related (by marriage, I think) to the husband of Callie's sister Sarah's granddaughter Nannie Lee House.

Great work, Miyako!
