Stumped on English/Irish marriges 1830s Indiana USA, Toughts Please

My Draper family historians, without any proof, said we came from England.  They liked to hang various versions of their Draper Coat of Arms on their living room walls!

As I started my Genealogy Journey here 2 years ago, I have begun to have my doubts!

1.  All the pictures of my family and distant cousins don't look "English". They look like me!  They don't look like the pictures of the Draper families that are proven to be from England.

2. After 1826, my 2nd great grandmother's family moved from North Carolina to Shelby County Indiana. My 2nd great grandmother was solid Irish with both grandfathers from Means and Joyce families.

Three children of William Means marry 3 children of John Harrison Draper, both are my 3rd great grandfathers.

I am having trouble believing that an Irish family would move next door to an "English" family and let their kids get married, especially three marriges between the two families.

Do any of you have any thoughts about the mindset of Irish-English marriages in the 1830s in midwestern USA?

I always thought the Irish stuck together.  But I may be wrong!surprise

Thanks in advance for any insights you have!
