So why arent there any matches

Even when I put precise family member data in my tree no matches are found not even for me ! Does it only search members not records such as birth census and marriage record

Helyn WikiTree does not have a records database.

It is a place where you can document your family history.

Hello Helyn,

You are correct that the WikiTree "find" mechanism searches only WikiTree profiles.

If you look in a WikiTree profile's right column toward the bottom, a "Research" section can help you search other services, like Ancestry, FamilySearch, and so on, but you will have to have your own account on those services to get into details there.

It seems you are the first person in your tree branch to contribute to WikiTree!

Hi Helyn,

As you build your tree upward and outward, you will eventually find a match that someone else has already entered.

When you do that, look at the bottom of the profile to see if there is the current weeks connection finder profiles- that is how you know that person is connected to the big One Tree.  Then that list will start showing on your profile, as well as your relatives profiles (can take 24 hours to update.)  

And, you will see your connections jump by a huge amount.  With a common name like Morris, it could happen rather quickly.  I run a One Place study, and sometimes entering info from an obit, I find connections within a profile or two.  But sometimes it takes me many-many profiles to make a connection to the Big Tree.
