This old actor (who remains a card-carrying SAG-AFTRA member) still gets a kick out of finding a familial connection to any skilled performer – the moreso when it's someone who shares my mother's maiden surname, and a line of likenamed ancestors. I thought Carolyn Jones was perfect for the TV show – and wonderfully paired with John Astin – although I have to say that Anjelica Huston, on film, was probably a closer match to the original, macabre, often-appalling figure conjured up by cartoonist Charles Addams in the pages of the ''New Yorker''. I fell in love with those cartoons as a kid, and still hold Addams as uniquely (if darkly) imaginative, and uniquely gifted.
