He's been on my radar this week!

He had 3 entries on the British Number 1 Singles list for Only The Lonely (1960) It's Over (1964) and Oh Pretty Woman (1964) but his first appearance came even earlier, as a writer on the Everly Brothers' 1958 number 1, Claudette (a double-A-side with All I Have To Do Is Dream).

On my Biological father's side Roy and I are 21st cousins twice removed right now. I am still adding members of my dad's family so it may change. It would also change if I can find my 2nd great grandfather David Fox's father and grandfather.

We are also 19 degrees apart based on my biological mothers side.

I had the unmitigated pleasure of seeing Roy Orbison play in person at the Schofield Barracks Officers Club in Hawaii.  It was a relatively small and intimate venue and my wife and I were seated at a table by the stage.  I loved his recorded music but in person his massive talent and beautifully modulated voice blew me away.  It's difficult to pick a favorite song, but I'll go with a three-way tie of  "Only the Lonely, "Pretty Woman", and "Crying".

We are 19 degrees apart on my mother's side.

Roy Kelton Orbison - 17° - 16th C

Elizabeth (Sulyard) Garneys (1456 - 1539) - 17° - 15th great grandmother

Roy is related through my Brunson/Parsons/Sewell/Thompkins line. While I like all his music, "You Got It!" is my favorite.

Roy is my 18th cousin once removed, and we are also 18 degrees apart.

My favorite song of his is "You Got It." co-written with Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Jeff and Tom also performed on it, and Jeff produced it as well. Being a huge fan of Jeff's work since 1979, I'm probably biased.

I was "So Young" in the "Penny Arcade" thinking "I Wanna Live" and looking for an "Easy Way Out".

Then I saw her "Belinda", "Oh, Pretty Woman" and I got "That Lovin' You Feelin' Again". I was "Still" "Hung Up on You" "(Love Me Like You Did It) Last Night" "(Say) You're My Girl", we could be "So Good" together but don't "Break My Mind". "I'm a Southern Man" "Almost 18" and I'm still "Tryin' to Get You" my "Blue Angel" who is "Sweet and Easy to Love" you make me feel so "Ooby Dooby".

"She" says it's the "End of the Line" "Goodnight" "Ride Away" "Twinkle Toes". "I Drove All Night" "Crying" and listening to "Heartbreak Radio". Why did "She" say "It's Over", I know "She Cheats on Me" and that they call her "Sweet Mama Blue" down at the "Rock House" in "Memphis, Tennessee". I'll "Remember the Good" but she's a "She's a Mystery to Me". Even though "I'm Hurtin" like "Only the Lonely" would understand, if that "Chicken Hearted" "Poor Baby" comes "Crawling Back" it will be my turn to say "Walk On".

No ...I'm not related!
