There you are: Category: Woodland Cemetery, Egremont Township, Ontario

Starting with the next preview and stable version, WikiTree BEE will also support creation of Canadian cemetery categories from Find a Grave.

Thank you
Thank you for creating this category, however, it should have been named Woodland Cemetery, Mount Forest, Ontario.

Please do not use Townships in cemetery categories.

Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback.Where does Mount Forest come from? When querying the coordinates in OSM it doesn't state anything about Mount Forest. Location on OSM shows, that it's actually not situated in Mount Forest, right?

It's not within the boundaries of the actual village, however it is within the boundaries of the larger community.

If you look at Google maps, you can see local business that use Mount Forest as their address (Hunterhill Kennel Newfoundlands, Just Call Me Honey, Mennonite Custom Embroidery).

Further, the address for Woodland United Church is Mount Forest.

Lastly, the township of Egremont no longer exists since the amalgamation of Proton, Egremont, and the Village of Dundalk into the current township of Southgate which occurred in 2000.

Wow, I did not realize this cemetery was going to be a problem.  Yes the address probably has a Mount Forest address, a Rural Route address like so many in this rural area, since the closet post office is Mount Forest. (I also have a Mount Forest address, but am located in the former Arthur Township. Any one from around here who is pre-amalgamation still refers to their home township name.)  No it is not technically 'Egremont' anymore since amalgamation, but is called Southgate. Next I want to point out that I was only going by how findagrave described the location of the cemetery.

As far as I can see in the category list it is still under the sub-category of Grey County. 'Egremont Township' just helps to distinguish its location.

Thank you [[Straub-620|Florian Straub]] for creating this cemetery for me.
Thanks, Karen. So should I then rename the category I created to Southgate instead of Egremont? We probably should also try to update it on Find a Grave.

Probably the Egremont Township category on WikiTree should then also be changed to reflect the new names?

I do not know.  I am new to all this.  I am fine that it can be found in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Grey_County%2C_Ontario%2C_Cemeteries

Maybe it is a question for administration to answer.

Just looked at the Category for Mount Forest cemetery https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Mount_Forest_Cemetery%2C_Southgate%2C_Ontario which is within the vicinity of Mount Forest, but under Southgate. Woodland Cemetery could be moved to the same category, but that means that Wilder's Cemetery would also have to change.

It's all too confusing to me.

So renaming it to "Woodland Cemetery, Southgate, Ontario" and moving it below Category: Southgate, Ontario?

Do I get it right, that you in the Canada Project always skip the word Township in cemetery category names and location categories?

The word Township should not be used in category names for Ontario.  Please see:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Grey_County%2C_Ontario%2C_Cemeteries for examples.

and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cemetery_Categorization for instructions on how to categorize Cemeteries.

It's not quite that simple, unfortunately.  Cemetery categories do not use the word Township in their names... but the historic location categories do use the word Township.  Modern location categories do not use the word Township or Municipality.

You are correct here with: Category:Woodland Cemetery, Southgate, Ontario and placing it under the modern Category:Southgate, Ontario category for location.

Thank you to everyone who is trying to figure out the categorization for this cemetery.  I appreciate it.
I will change that in BEE. Does it only apply to Ontario or to the rest of the country as well? I mean the cemetery categories without "Township".
Thank you Florian!
