Paul Nipkow: There are some sources and relatives on Familysearch  https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/9KQW-LPM. I´ll add some of them to the tree

Could anybody with access to Ancestry look up his marriage record? I would like to confirm the father of his spouse. I would also be interested in knowing in which church they were married. There are way too many churches in Berlin to search:-)
Hi Manuela,

if nobody has done it yet, I can download the available documents and sent them to you via email.

(oo 1885, *1885 (and ~1886), *1889, *1891, *1892, *1894, *1896, oo 1919 son H.K.Paul (and + for 2 of his children), +1939 daughter Marie Cl.J., +1940 his wife Sophia, +1940 himself)

Their first daughter was born Dec 1885 in Berlin, but baptized Sep 1886 in Hannover, as Sophia lived (or at least stayed) at H-Linden at that time.

Sophias parents:

Johannes August Colonius oo Marie Lisette Bösenberg

Sophia lived at Johanniterstr. when they married, maybe this helps with identifying the church (if in Berlin).

Vanessa

In their first daughter's baptismal record (Hannover in Sep 1886) was noted: "Die Eltern zur Zeit der Taufe noch nicht kirchlich getraut." wink

Thanks to the documents you provided Vanessa I added more people from his daughter-in-law´s family.

Right now I´m trying to find connections within Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Schönberg) and Mecklenburg-Schwerin (Damshagen). See relatives Sophie Schmöcker

Hope this is easier than searching for connections in the vast city of Berlin...

Not sure if you are aware of those:

There is a sister: which would be a first side step: Ilse Jane Wertheim (born Baer)  1924 - 2012

All ending at a grand father Joseph Baer 1848–1922 BIRTH 1 FEB 1848 • Germany DEATH 10 MAY1922 • Germany

with no source given.

I checked into Jewish Geni but did not have any sucess there either.

Also checked into here: http://www.alemannia-judaica.de/rheinland-pfalz_friedhoefe.htm since the grandfathers dates could be from a grave stone. Unfortunately those graveyards are not complete photographed. May be on another site. Or to ask someone in Pirmasens to go and check. Unfortunately there is more than one graveyard.

Hi Alexandra,

thanks for all the information & links and sorry for not responding earlier.

Real life is a little demanding right now so I recently didn't have much time to continue the BAER research and further contribute to this challenge or WT in general.

I'm aware of some FS and ancestry profiles, but I don't have access to MyH (no account).

3 weeks ago I phoned Rodalben and Pirmasens archives and was given some interesting info concerning the Jewish communities. Further research for documents would have to take place there. Hopefully I will be able to get some more info and answers in a next phone call, but probably this will have to wait until next month...

I have added possible parents for Johann Riegel in the research notes - I cannot connect because Johann Riegels data is not available online.

According to https://www.rheinische-geschichte.lvr.de/Persoenlichkeiten/hans-riegel/DE-2086/lido/57cd1fee5e53a6.38269037 he was son of a craftsman from Friesdorf

Hans (Johannes) Riegel wurde am 3.4.1893 als Sohn eines Handwerkers und einer Bäuerin in Friesdorf bei Bonn geboren.

The linked record https://dfg-viewer.de/show?tx_dlf%5Bdouble%5D=0&tx_dlf%5Bid%5D=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.landesarchiv-nrw.de%2Fdigitalisate%2FAbt_Rheinland%2FPA_3102%2F~021%2F02160_Bd02%2Fmets.xml&tx_dlf%5Bpage%5D=30&cHash=ca8a6e632a1b4f608c6dfb4c00625f50 claims he was a mason ("Maurer") from Friesdorf, so I guess this has to fit.

Yes, it fits quite well, but we should have a proper source for it, e.g. birth or death record.

Offering the line "Maurerhandwerk seines Vaters will er absolut nichts wissen" from the Google Books preview of "Ein Bär geht um die Welt: Haribo, vom Bonbonkocher zum König der Gummibärchen ; eine deutsche Familiensaga"

Thanks for connecting the father. I added a bit of research note to document the connection.
