Southern Super Sweepers Chat for our Sept/Oct Source-A-Thon Team

Question

Well September 29th 2023 is here and this is our eight annual 72 hour "source- a- thon" marathon on WikiTree. Each team has a chat page so here is our "Southern Super Sweepers" Chat for this weekend's event.

Our goal is to clear out our unsourced profiles. Source citations help to provide a way for anyone to find the source and gain any additional information the source may contain.
If you have any questions, suggestions or just wanta chat here is the place to do it as you participate in the marathon.

Also we enjoy encouraging and chating with others on how we are doing or share a problem that may have come about in your research.

I am really proud of our team, "The Southern Super Sweepers". Some of you exceeded expectations, others ran a good race. No matter what, I think you all are a great team!!!  I appreciate each of you and hope you will join us again on the next challenge.

Good Morning Sweepers!! The Thon has begun - have fun and GO SWEEPERS!!!

I forgot to add I will be working on some 1800's Georgia Unsourced profiles. Later, maybe tomorrow I will switch and do some Louisiana but will update here.

Thanks, Ginny, I worked on 1800s Georgia too. Due to limited internet connectivity, I usually pick out random people with unusual names who might be easier to find. (No John Smiths or Mary Browns...though I do have one of the latter in my tree.) Cheers!

any arborists on our team?  I ran into a family that need more help than I can handle with my health situation.  I can explain it to someone who is not on medication that knocks you out for hours.

Sweepers!! We are really close to passing Team Italy. Can we make an extra push and see if we can do that?? I am taking a brief break to finish cooking dinner and I will be back for as long as I can this evening. Let's do this!!!

We can do it!! I have to Greet for an hour but will come back to the Thon for a bit afterwards. Pip just finished greeting and is going to Thon some more so maybe we can make it to 2000!!

I am sorry to abandon ship but it is about midnight and I cannot have anything else to eat or drink the rest of the night for my medical procedure in the morning. The best place for me now is in bed so  don't think about snacks and drinks!!

It has been fun and we have done great!

Good Morning Super Sweepers! I know everyone is tired and I hope all of you find time for a nap today.

l have a question about the SourceAThon Sticker. I have put the following string on my profile:

{{Source-a-Thon|team=Southern Super Sweepers|year=2023|profiles=250}}

I cannot get it to say what is in the string; instead it says "adding sources to some previously unsourced profiles. I have tried several copy and paste even using the one on the page that has the details and this is still what is showing on my profile. Can anyone help? Or, have any of you tried this and are getting the same result?

I have tried but not very successful, hopefully someone else found a way to do it.

Virginia, Dorothy, I copied the 2022 Source-a-Thon sticker, changed the year and number of profiles sourced, and it worked!  There's a spot in it for bib #, which I didn't use because I didn't have it handy.

This was my 2022 sticker:

Thanks, Dorothy and Sweepers! I didn't get as many done as hoped, mostly due to work and connectivity issues, but I had fun. Even found one for the USBH Project.
