There are no sources for Jonet, and many other geneology sites have James Galbraith of Gartconnel as her father. I have found several secondary sources that indicate this to be true, therefore can James be added to Jonet's family tree as her father?
1. She is the heiress of Galbraith lands in Gartconnel- Killearn, Banmore and Auchinreoch, therefore a direct descendent of the family Chiefs of Galbraith of Gartconnel. (''Historical and geneological essay upon the family and surname of Buchanan'' p33. ''The Buchanan Book p182)
2.The lands to which Jonet was heiress passed out of the Galbraiths into the hands of Patrick Buchanan of that ilk, upon their marriage. The Galbraiths fought against this, but lost. (''Up and Down The Lennox , p51 Michael Dun)
3. Jonet's approx birth date of 1415/1420 sits well with James Galbraith of Gartconnel approx birth of 1380.
The URL below relates to James's father, William Galbraith of Gartconnel, and states that he had a son John, although the date given for Johns death, 1381 differs greatly from other sources. He was born c1380 , and married a Kincaid, born c1390 and had a daughter born c1420
