Hi,

I'm just introducing myself.  I'm hoping to find some clarification about my tree. Being Afro-American it's a bit of a challenge, but I see so many resources already!

Hi Angela!  and welcome to WikiTree!  You have found a great place to learn more about your tree!  I am a member of the Black Heritage project, and yes, there are many resources available - and it seem like more are available all the time!  If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask here in G2G - this may be the friendliest, most helpful genealogy community on the planet!

Be sure to check out the Black Heritage project page!

Welcome Angela! Thank you for introducing yourself! Bartley is right. This is a great place to learn. There are many genealogists here who work on Af Am trees, cemeteries, communities, and who do slavery era research. We are happy to help however we can.

Edited: I wanted to mention that we have a great online resource library you might want to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:African-American_Genealogy_Resources

Welcome Angela! I'm so glad you're here. One of the best ways to get help at WikiTree is to start building your tree so we can see what you have so far and then see if there any ways we can add to what you've already done. WikiTree is any amazing collaborative group where we help each other with our trees. Don't hesitate to ask for research help here in g2g. If you tag your question black_heritage people who follow that tag and have more experience with African American research will see your question.

Hi Angela, What states did your family live in?  I work mostly in South Carolina areas.  Please let me know if I can be of any help.  We have a lot of plantation information on here as well.  See this plantation index page for more info.

As a Word descendent, would love to see if there are any connections.

Hay there,

Sorry for the late reply. That would be awesome. I'm still a bit of a fledgling with this. I have been actively working on my family tree for only about a year. Having AA who were slaves makes it so challenging. I'm still weeding through info again, and really feel I should get DNA conformation before uploading anything past my grandfather on my Father's (the Word side). I'm more than happy to share my tree with you. Send me a pm if you like so we can talk further.
