The US Black Heritage Project is dedicated to working on profiles for those enslaved in the U.S. across all times in history, the descendants of those slaves, as well as Americans of African descent.
We are committed to adding, connecting, and honoring members of the African-American community, as well as, welcoming new WikiTree members and helping them to connect to their ancestors.
To join the project:
- You've signed the Honor Code and fully embrace the philosophy of collaboration
- You've been a WikiTree member for at least one month
- You are comfortable adhering to best practices for genealogy research
- You have built your sourced family tree through to your grandparents
**Answer below** and add one or two profiles that show you are familiar with our basic skills requirements. Tell us which project team(s) you are most interested doing work in.
Not ready to join but want to help? Go to this task page. Please add the African-American sticker to all of your profiles from this community. This helps us honor them and allows us to watch the number of profiles grow. {{African-American Sticker}}
Please also Follow the black_heritage tag and watch for posts from us asking for help on specific tasks and projects.
Thanks so much and we look forward to working with you!
