I can add a Lt. Col. Sir James Abercrombie, 1st Bt. to the profile of James Hamilton KG, KT. This is who I can add:

  • "Lt.-Col. Sir James Abercrombie1st Bt. was born illegitimately before 1680. He was the son of Lt.-Gen. James Hamilton4th Duke of Hamilton. He died on 14 November 1724, without male issue, probably unmarried.
He gained the rank of Ensign on 24 May 1696 in the Royal Scots. He gained the rank of Brevet Major in 1706. He gained the rank of Captain on 31 May 1707. He was created 1st Baronet Abercrombie [Great Britain] on 21 May 1709. He fought in the Battle of Blenheim, as Aide-de-Camp to the Earl of Orkney. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 20 March 1711. He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel on 1 November 1711. He held the office of Town Major (Lieutenant-Colonel) of Dunkirk between 24 October 1712 and 1724.
On his death, the Baronetcy of Abercrombie became extinct." (quoted directly from thepeerage, com)

These are the sources I am using:

  • thepeerage.com
  • (source referenced by 'thepeerage.com') George Edward Cokayne, editor, The Complete Baronetage, 5 volumes (no date (c. 1900); reprint, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 1983), volume V, page 8. Hereinafter cited as The Complete Baronetage.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!
