Post here to join us in the Vermont Project.

Early home to Native Americans, English Settlers, and French Canadians.  Later waves of immigrants came from Scotland, Ireland, and Germany, and more, some stopping in Canada first.

The Abenakis, the English, and the French were at war for nearly 100 years.  All sides spilled blood, and the wounds were deep.  All remember sad and terrible tales.  But the wars have ended, and all have lived in Vermont.

Is this your family history?

To join, answer below and we will award the U.S. Project badge.  A minimum of 200 contributions is needed to join.

Please post your request to join us as an answer, not a comment or reply.

I have many ancestors in Vermont.  My g2 grandfather was a Cornish miner who worked at the Ely Copper Mine in Vershire.

I have recently moved to Vermont and would like to be on the project.

I have so many relatives in Chittenden County, I’m convinced I can throw a rock and find a 4th cousin there. Surname is my maiden name, Edwards. I would love to participate.

I am interested in joining this effort. I have VT ancestors going back to the 1700s, mostly around the Newport area. Family names include Farman, Brown, Armstrong, Cushman and Overbury.

As a native Vermonter from Washington County (but now living in Florida) with an extensive family history in the state, I would like to join this project.

I have a lot of family history on my maternal side, living in Vermont after one direct ancestor who lived in Newburyport, MA, died in the Revolutionary War.  He had also taken part in the French and Indian Wars.  The Remick Family remain a large family many of whom still live in Vermont,  My mother was the only daughter in a family of seven.  The last time I looked at that line on Wikitree there were some errors but I did not have time to do anything about if.

My Revolutionary War ancestors moved from Lebanon, Ct to Vermont; surnames were Paine/Payne and Tisdale.  They moved to Nova Scotia and again back to New Hampshire.  The tiny town of Dresden, Vermont also included a Paine/Payne citizen - but it was lost to history.

Count me in!

My father was born in Lowell, VT in 1891. His father in Dunham, Quebec in 1853. His mother was born in Northampton, MA in1859 and her father Peter H. Litno in Addison, VT in 1836?. He is one of my brick walls. There is no information on him prior to his marriage in 1854 in Pelham, MA.  I believe his parents to be Anthony Litno/Letourneau and Mary Mayo. His brother was Joseph Litno born 1834 Keeseille, NY. is parents are listed as Anthony Lito and Mary Mayo. A canadian line has done a geneology tree on him, but the information is incorrect. I have alends to the DNA match with two of Joseph's gr grandkids which makes me believe the parentage I have is correct. Peter, Joseph and Mrs. A. Litno were living in Springfield, MA in 1850, I would really like to break this wall. My aunt had all the information but she passed it to her son when she died and after his death it disappeared,

Yes, I'd love to join in.  I'm a descendent of the Chittenden and Galusha families.  A direct descendent of the first governor, Thomas Chittenden.  (my 6th great grandfather).  Anything I can learn from participating in the project would be of great value to me.  Thank you!

The hubby and our children are 7th and 8th generation Vermonters. I spend a fair amount of time researching the towns in the NEK, and in Coos and Grafton Counties, NH (since Vermonters regularly moved back and forth across the Connecticut river for work, wars, and marriage).
