The TV-USA Notables Challenge - Neighbors

Over the past four months, we've celebrated TV Moms, Dads, Kids and Kin. We now move next door to celebrate 40 of televisions often wacky, sometimes troublesome, but always endearing neighbors.

This month's list includes several much-beloved TV neighbors who are still in need of connecting, including Fred Mertz, Mr. Hooper, Wilona Woods, and Squiggy. Several others have already been connected but are in desperate need of some bio writing, Actress Ann Wedgeworth, for example, known for her role as Lana Shields on Three's Company, was once married to legendary actor Rip Torn, who in turn had been married to Oscar-winning actress Geraldine Page. All three are connected to the Big Tree, but none has an adequate profile bio.

Remember, our goal is not only to connect these profiles and increase their CC7s, but also to raise them to a higher level of excellence overall. That will require the help of Bio Builders, Categorizers, Connectors, Data Doctors, Formatters, Photo Finders, Proofreaders, Sourcers, and any other WikiTreers looking to have a good time upgrading our notable profiles.

Follow the link below to see our complete list of TV Neighbors and to learn more about what needs to be done. Then jump in wherever you think you'll have the most fun. Just be sure to drop us a note here to let us know what you're working on and periodically update us on your progress.

Note: You may have noticed that we are now referring to our project as the TV USA Project (a sub-project of the Notables). This is to openly acknowledge the project's focus on American television.

Members interested in creating a project or challenge featuring television performers from other nations should refer their request to the corresponding country project.

Note 2: The TV USA Project now has its own Free Space Page. This page will be developed over time, but right now it has links to all five of our TV USA challenges: Moms, Dads, Kids, Kin and Neighbors.  Combined, these five challenges provide links to the profiles of 200 amazing TV legends!

You do not have to be a member of this project to participate. However, if you would like to share your name on the TV USA membership list, let me know. It's a great way to connect with other members with similar interests.

With a week left to go, we have already connected 14 of our 25 unconnected TV Neighbors. That leaves just eleven left to go. I've provided a list in a separate post below.

I'm starting in on Kathryn Joosten. I didn't watch Desperate Housewives, but loved her on The West Wing.
by Emily Holmberg G2G6 Pilot (157k points)

I loved her on both shows. She was one of television's many underappreciated talents (although she did win two Emmy Awards for her role on Desperate Housewives).

I connected Wilson!  Earl Hindman through his wife Molly.  The quirky neighbors are always the best!

Also he had another existing profile.... I proposed Merge of Hindman-738 into Hindman-516

I also connected Franklin Cover

I connected two TV Neighbors last night from "The Jeffersons":

Paul Benedict-4043 and Franklin Cover-544
by Judi Stutz G2G6 Pilot (338k points)
I always assumed Paul Benedict was British. Turns out he was from New Mexico! Great job Judi.

I connected Bill Daily. His father was already in WikiTree.

Funny how often we find parents of celebrities with Wikitree profiles even when their famous child has none.

Thanks again Elizabeth. Bill Daily was a hilarious comedic actor. I'm glad to see him connected.

I started to work on William Frawley. His parents are both from Ireland, so I started to go sideways on his sister Anna's husband in order to hopefully make the connection. If anyone else wants to try and create profiles for his siblings and their spouses, that would be helpful.

I have done a bit of work on Will Lee (Mr Hooper). I have added his father and sister. His LNAB needs to be changed to Lubovsky, plus his Wikipedia page states that he was never married yet I found a marriage record for him.

I've made the adjustments to his LNAB.
Thank you!

Our next TV USA Challenge will be hitting G2G early next month. Can't guarantee it will be October 1 due to the Source-a-Thon, but it won't be long after. In the meantime, we still have eleven TV neighbors left to connect. Here's the list...

Jerry Paris (Jerry Helper on the Dick van Dyke Show)

George Tobias (Abner Krawitz on Bewitched)

Fran Ryan (Doris Zifel on Green Acres)

Will Lee (Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street)

Emilio Delgado (Luis on Sesame Street)

Ja'Net DuBois (Willona Woods on Good Times)

David Landers (Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley)

Norman Fell (Mr. Roper on Three's Company)

Alaina Reed (Rose Lee Holloway on 227)

Helen Martin (Pearl Shay or 227)

Kathryn Joosten (Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives)

I just connected Fran Ryan to the tree through her Shafer husband’s maternal grandparents who were in WikiTree
by Elizabeth Schafer G2G6 Mach 4 (46.3k points)
This is one of those character actors whose face I know like an old family member, but for the life of me I can't remember what show I know her from! Congratulations on the connection.

Having worked backwards for David Landau, both sets of parents and grandparents were emigrants from Poland/Russian Empire so I got stuck.

Turns out there is a really quick link through his wife Kathy and her parents who were actors and have profiles. A connection request profile comment was made in January  by another WikiTreer and I've sent a private message today.

Kathy was also an actor, now photographer and has her own Wiki page.

David, if I get an answer, I will let you know but perhaps you can keep track of this? I'm going back to my main interests - this was a complete sidetrack laugh You know how it is!

I will monitor this one. Once we get David connected to his wife, we may be able to get her profile opened as well.
David has been merged with a duplicate and is now connected to his wife.
That's great news Elizabeth. It was frustrating to know that the connection was there, but being unable to make it due to a locked profile.

I connected Norman Fell to the tree through his wife Florence’s family. I think I’ve connected Emilio Delgado through his sister’s husband’s family but his page has not verified he is connected.
by Elizabeth Schafer G2G6 Mach 4 (46.3k points)
Great job Elizabeth. I verified that Emilio has been connected through the "connection to me" link. He should show as connected after tonight's software update.
